Seymour earns scholarship to SIU Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Sarah Seymour of Omaha, Nebraska, is the recipient of a Dean’s Scholarship at Southern Illinois University Carbondale for the fall 2019 semester. Scholarships are based on academic merit and potential for superior academic achievement in college. 

Seymour will graduate in May 2019 from Millard North High School. She is the daughter of Tracy and Glenn Seymour, of Omaha, Neb. Seymour’s numerous awards and honors include selection to the Delta Epsilon Phi German Honor Society and she is a three-time National German Exam Gold Award recipient. She was the American Association of Teachers of German Germany Trip Award winner in 2017 and chosen as teen volunteer of the year at CHI Health-Lakeside Hospital in 2016. She has been a peer tutor at her high school and is involved with Educators Rising-Millard Education Academy Chapter. She is also a Sunday school teacher at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. 

Seymour plans to major in linguistics and mathematics education at SIU Carbondale. 

SIU Carbondale is in the top five percent of public U.S. institutions for research.  The university offers more than 200 majors, minors and specializations representing every key academic disciplinary area. In addition, a large number of scholarship opportunities are available.
