Fun for all ages in store for participants at Touch of Nature’s Haunted Hollow
CARBONDALE, Ill. — Creepy crawlers, a haunted hayride and tons of outdoor fun await participants in the 10th annual Haunted Hollow at Touch of Nature Environmental Center.
The popular event takes place 1-4 p.m. on Nov. 4 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s outdoor experiential learning center, located about eight miles south of Carbondale off Giant City Road.
Everyone is welcome.
Activities for all ages
Participants can enjoy a diverse assortment of happenings and it’s all suitable for people of all ages. Take an interpretive nature walk, climb a portable rock wall, climb aboard a “haunted” hayride, enjoy family games, and hold snakes, lizards and other critters as you learn more about them. Light refreshments will be served and participants are invited to wear costumes.
Touch of Nature is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible, assuring it’s truly a family friendly event. It’s all happening rain or shine, so organizers encourage participants to be mindful of dressing for the weather.

Register in advance online by Nov. 2 for the best admission price. If you sign up early, the cost is $7 for ages 14 and older or $5 for children ages 6-13.You can also pay admission at the door the day of the event, with cash only, at a cost of $11 for ages 14 and older or $7 for children ages 6-13. Ages five and younger are admitted free. A parent or guardian must accompany children to the Haunted Hollow.
