CARBONDALE, Ill. — Entries are now being accepted for Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Homecoming 2018 parade. Set for 10 a.m. on Oct. 20, the parade will go through downtown Carbondale and end on the SIU campus, just in time for tailgating (11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saluki Row) and Saluki football versus Indiana State University at 2 p.m.

Wide variety of entries welcome

Schools, campus organizations, business groups and members of the community are welcome to participate. Prizes are awarded for the best marching bands and large and small floats. Car/truck units, equestrian groups and walking units are also invited to join the fun.

Celebrating the Saluki spirit

In celebration of the Saluki spirit, this year’s homecoming and parade theme is Saluki Gras: From Bourbon Street to Saluki Row. Jason Seaman, Saluki football alumnus and Indiana classroom hero, is the grand marshal.

To assure a safe and enjoyable parade, new rules are in place for this year’s parade, and all participants will sign waivers this year.

Find all of the parade details and registration information on the SIU Homecoming website. For more information, email cdjames@siu.edu.
