Summer camps and conferences bring thousands of youths to SIU
Thousands of young people from all over the country are visiting the SIU campus and Touch of Nature Environmental Center this summer to participate in dozens of academic, athletic, music, artistic and outdoor experiential camps.
In addition, SIU is hosting a variety of conferences for groups and organizations of all sizes, including one in mid-July for about 850 participants. It’s an enriching, educational and fun time for the campers and allows them to check out SIU and all it has to offer.
The camps and conferences also provide SIU faculty and staff the opportunity to share their expertise and connect with youths who may be the Salukis of tomorrow. By summer’s end, more than 2,000 children and teens will have gotten the chance to experience SIU.
