University earns national employer recognition
The university earned national recognition last week when Forbes released its annual rankings of “America’s Best Employers” and “America’s Best Midsize Employers” for 2018.
SIU Carbondale was ranked No. 178 among the top 500 midsized employers. Twenty-eight higher education institutions made that list, which featured businesses with between 1,000 and 5,000 workers. SIU was the only Illinois university to be included. The “Best Employers” list is comprised of the top 500 organizations with more than 5,000 employees.
Overall, there were 46 higher education institutions and 12 K-12 schools on the two lists.
In making the announcement, Forbes stated it partnered with statistics firm Statistica to cull data from a survey of 30,000 employees in the United States. The survey asked those responding to rate on a scale of 0 to 10 how likely they were to recommend their organization to others, and asked employees to recommend companies other than their own.
