SIU hosting ‘Starting a Business in Illinois’ workshop on April 13
CARBONDALE, Ill. — If you’ve ever considered starting your own business, or hope to expand an existing business, now is the time to explore the possibilities by attending an informational workshop at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
The “Starting a Business in Illinois” workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on April 13 in Room 150 at the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center, 1740 Innovation Drive in Carbondale.
$20 covers presentation, question and answer, and toolkit
The two-hour presentation features all of the most current information about what it takes to create a successful business or expand an existing company.
Topics include:
- Start-up requirements.
- Securing financing.
- Legal structure.
- Business planning.
- Licensing.
- Registration.
- Marketing.
A question and answer session will also take place and workshop participants will connect with certified business counselors who can assist them in assessing their plans and reaching their goals.
The cost of the workshop is $20, which includes a business toolkit, in both print and electronic formats. The kit includes a variety of checklists and guides along with resource booklets from both the Illinois Small Business Development Center statewide network and the Small Business Administration, and other helpful information.
