Touch of Nature invites children to How Sweet it is Winter Mini Camp

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Valentine’s weekend is a great time for children to enjoy a fun mid-winter camping experience courtesy of Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Touch of Nature Environmental Center. 

The How Sweet it is Winter Mini Camp will run from 5 p.m. Feb. 16 to 2:30 p.m. on Feb.17. Children ages 7-12 are welcome. 

What’s in store

This overnight camping experience, a great first overnight camp experience or a preview of summer camp, features a wide variety of activities. Participants will learn about maple syrup production, explore animal tracks and trees, enjoy games, music, crafts, a campfire and much more. 

Registration details

The cost is $70 for the overnight camp excursion. The camp is located about eight miles south of Carbondale off Giant City Road. There is a $10 discount for those who have previously participated in an eco-camp at Touch of Nature. Additional siblings within the same immediate family also pay $10 less. A day camp option on Saturday is also available for $40.
