‘Future Saluki Game Day’ offers campus life experience
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- High school and college transfer students from all over the region, along with their families, are invited to attend the Future Saluki Game Day Celebration on Sept. 30 to experience what campus life at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is really like.
The event, held in conjunction with Saluki Family Weekend, gives prospective students the opportunity to learn about SIU’s academic programs, financial aid, admissions, university housing and other offices and programs. Participants can cap off their visit with a tailgate, featuring complimentary food and free tickets to the Saluki football game.
“We invite all prospective students and family members who are interested in getting a feel for what it is truly like to be a Saluki to join us for this fun-filled football weekend,” said Michelle Rust, senior admissions coordinator for Undergraduate Admissions. “Help us show Saluki pride by wearing maroon and cheering the Dawgs to a victory!”
Check-in for the Future Saluki Game Day Celebration is from 2 to 2:30 p.m. in the east lobby of the SIU Arena followed by a welcome event in the gym. Afterward, enjoy tours of campus and university housing and visit the informational tables to find details about the university, student housing, financial aid and more. There will also be admissions counselors and a station where prospective students can submit an application to SIU, if they desire.
Find out more about SIU’s academic colleges and the many majors, minors and specializations offered, as well as other aspects of campus life during the academic college and campus department fair, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Saluki Family Tailgate area. The free food and tailgate fun begins at 3:45 p.m. and wraps up just prior to the football game. SIU takes on the Northern Iowa Panthers in gridiron action at 6 p.m. at Saluki Stadium.
