Carver chosen to lead International Affairs
Andrew D. Carver has been appointed executive director of International Affairs at SIU Carbondale following a national search. He served as interim director of the Center for International Education since December 2015. Carver’s appointment started Aug. 16.
Carver will provide leadership for study abroad programs, international student support, international development, and enrollment management for international students. His duties include promoting creation of international projects, leading international student enrollment initiatives, facilitating protocol for international visitors, cultivating international alumni, and representing the university’s outreach mission overseas. His responsibilities also include expanding study abroad and international partnerships, and international student recruitment and retention.
Carver holds a faculty appointment as professor of conservation planning and sustainable development in the Department of Forestry in the College of Agricultural Sciences. He also holds joint appointments with the Cooperative Wildlife Research Laboratory and the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts.
Carver joined the university in 1998 as an assistant professor in the Department of Forestry. He was promoted to associate professor in 2004 and to the rank of professor in 2010.
