Associate chancellor-CDO search to reopen later this year

After the cancellation of campus visits by two of the three finalists, the search committee for the associate chancellor and chief diversity officer position recommended earlier this week to close that search and conduct a new search later this year.

Interim Chancellor Brad Colwell said while it was unfortunate that “due to circumstances out of our control we are unable to finish the search process for this critical position,” he fully supported the committee’s recommendation. He also supported the additional recommendation to wait for students, faculty and staff to return to campus this fall before bringing in a new group of finalists to campus for interviews. The committee will meet over the summer to recommend a new timeframe for the search, Colwell said.

Colwell said he anticipates Elizabeth Lewin will continue in her role as the interim associate chancellor for diversity, pending the completion and approval of appropriate paperwork, until the new search is completed.

“I am grateful to Dr. Lewin for her willingness to continue in this important role and to the search committee for its diligence and hard work,” Colwell said.
