Media Availability – Planetary Radio’s Mat Kaplan
Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to attend a media availability with Mat Kaplan, host and producer of Planetary Radio, and host of the total solar eclipse day activities in August at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Kaplan will be available at 10:45 a.m. Friday, April 21, at Saluki Stadium, the primary viewing area for the eclipse. He will be meeting with members of the university’s eclipse steering committee to plan for the Aug. 21 event. On Saturday, April 22, Kaplan will participate in a “Kids Star Party” in Mt. Vernon sponsored by WSIU and the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts.
A well-known broadcaster in the field of space exploration, Kaplan has hosted Planetary Radio, which plays on WSIU radio as well as another 150 radio stations and online, for the past 15 years. On Aug. 21, Kaplan will help guide both radio listeners and the thousands of enthusiasts expected at SIU during the total solar eclipse.
