Media Advisory – Tree Planting Postponed
With storms in the forecast for Friday, April 21, Southern Illinois University Carbondale has re-scheduled a tree planting to Friday, April 28.
Students, faculty and staff will plant trees at selected locations around campus during the belated Arbor Day celebration. Work shifts are from 9 to 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Volunteers will meet in the area of the campus lake boat dock.
SIU has earned Tree Campus USA recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation for the past two years in recognition of meeting sustainable campus forestry standards. SIU’s ongoing efforts include having a campus tree plan and sponsoring tree plantings.
