Dance company performances are April 28-29
The Southern Illinois Dance Company will bring hip-hop, jazz, contemporary and modern dance to Pulliam Hall’s Furr Auditorium for a spring dance concert April 28-29.
The April 28 performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and the April 29 performance begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission, student and senior citizen tickets, $6; and children 15 years old and younger, $5. Tickets are on sale at the door prior to each show. Individual members of the dance company are also selling tickets in advance.
The dancers in this company come from a variety of training backgrounds but they are all Salukis. “I think the variation in styles and backgrounds makes our show a well-rounded performance that takes the audience on a journey through a variety of dance styles,” Montana Taylor, president of the dance company, said.
SIDC has been a registered student organization for more than 30 years, and remains committed to its mission: to promote and elevate the art of dance by showcasing student, community and faculty dance artists. The 2017 showcase will include four new apprentices selected to join the company.
