School of Music plans Nov. 2 ‘Brass Night’

by Andrea Hahn

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- If it’s brass, bring it.

The School of Music at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is holding its first-ever “Brass Night,” a recruiting and educational event designed for area students who play brass instruments, whether they are in band or not. The event is 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, in Altgeld Hall, Room 110.

The event is open to SIU students, and to middle and high school students in the region. Interested community members are welcome as well. Brass instruments include trumpets, horns, euphoniums, trombones and tubas.

Activities include breathing exercises, a master class and brass performance.
