Media Advisory -- Simon Poll Analysis
David Yepsen and John S. Jackson of Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Paul Simon Public Policy Institute will join two public affairs specialists this week during a forum sponsored by the City Club of Chicago.
The forum is Thursday, Oct. 6, at Maggiano’s Banquets, 111 W. Grand Ave., Chicago. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. with a reception and a luncheon at noon. The forum will follow.
Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to attend. News crews should be in place by noon. For reporters outside of Chicago, the forum will be available via livestream at https://www.cityclub-chicago.org/live.
The forum will focus on the Simon Poll, an annual statewide poll that asks Illinois voters their opinions on important current public policy topics, typically with a focus on state budget issues, political and electoral reform, politics and social issues. The annual poll of registered voters dates to 2008.
Yepsen, the institute director who is retiring at the end of the month, said the forum will focus on Illinois 2016 campaigns and issues. Jackson, a visiting professor at the institute, along with Becky Carroll, founder and president of C-Strategies, LLC, and Pat Brady, a government affairs consultant with Next Generation Public Affairs, will also provide insight. Brady, a former chair of the Illinois Republican Party, is a graduate of the SIU School of Law.
