Saluki softball hosts Northern Iowa; will honor Brechtelsbauer
The Saluki softball team will host Northern Iowa in its final home series of the season this weekend, and honor legendary SIU Hall of Fame Coach Kay Brechtelsbauer.
The Salukis host Northern Iowa in a doubleheader at noon and 2 p.m., Saturday, April 30, at Charlotte West Stadium. Prior to the doubleheader, SIU will dedicate the field in Brechtelsbauer’s name. She coached the Saluki softball team to 633 wins and five College World Series appearances during a 32-year career that ended after the 1999 season.
On Sunday, May 1, three Saluki seniors will be recognized after the game. The single game against Northern Iowa begins at noon. Tickets are available the day of the game. Admission is $5 for adults, and children 12-and-under are free.
