Media Advisory – Research Park Open House
Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Research Park will host an Open House from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, to celebrate 15 years of service to the university and the region.
Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover the event. It will include opening remarks by Kyle Harfst, executive director of economic development and of the SIU Research Park, and by Interim Chancellor Brad Colwell. In addition, the event will showcase several businesses in the region, highlight the successes of client tenants, and recognize SIU students Daniel Bach and Thomas Birch as the two newest University Innovation Fellows. There will be tastings from local breweries and a distillery along with appetizers and desserts from local restaurants.
The SIU Research Park, located at 1740 Innovation Drive, is a non-profit corporation that promotes technology and enterprise both within the park and throughout Southern Illinois. Clients may lease rooms through the Small Business Incubator Program housed in the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center. The facilities include One Enterprise Place, with four tenants and 65 employees, and One Innovation Place, currently home to four tenants with additional space available for lease.
