Media Advisory – AT&T Aspire Grant
Southern Illinois University Carbondale and AT&T officials will discuss a recent contribution to two university programs at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the reception area near the balcony conference room in Anthony Hall. One recipient is Rising Scholars, a program that continues support for students who participated in the Saluki Summer Bridge to Success program, which emphasizes science, technology engineering and math. The other program is the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute’s East St. Louis Metropolitan Leadership Weekend, which annually brings about 40 African American junior high and high school students from the Metro East to SIU Carbondale for sessions on leadership and career awareness education. Speakers will include SIU Carbondale Interim Chancellor Brad Colwell and Jim Maurer, vice president of AT&T Illinois. Reporters, photographers and camera crews are invited to attend.
