Flu shots are still available
The Jackson County Health Department will continue to give flu shots for the next two or three weeks for all active and retired university employees, as well as surviving spouses who are enrolled in a state-sponsored health plan and who missed immunizations on campus earlier this month.
Employees are required to present verification of employment (university ID/picture ID) AND a state health insurance card in order to receive the free immunization. Retirees and survivors of state employees will be required to provide their state health insurance card and one type of picture identification.
If you are not enrolled in the state-sponsored health plan, or a dependent, contractual employee, volunteer, student or graduate assistant, you are not eligible for the free flu immunization provided by Central Management Services.
No appointment is necessary. The shots are available at the health department, 415 Health Department Road, Murphysboro, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Wednesday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
For more information call the department at 618/684-3143, ext. 517, to check dates and times, or visit jchdonline.org.
