Faculty, staff invited to welcome new and returning students

New Student Programs invites administrators, faculty, staff, and students to join in welcoming new and returning students during Saluki Startup and Weeks of Welcome.

Watermelon Fest is an SIU tradition that serves as the official opening to Weeks of Welcome. Festivities will include a watermelon eating contest, prizes, plenty of delicious watermelon, and time to welcome our new and returning students to campus. Watermelon Fest is from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 23, on the front lawn of Morris Library.

For a full schedule of Saluki Startup and Weeks of Welcome events, please download the Guidebook app (Android or iOS), search “SIUC” and select the “SIUC 2015-2016” guide. Guidebook provides a convenient way for all members of the SIU community to access the schedule, build their own calendar of events, and engage on social media. The schedule is also found online at http://nsp.siu.edu/

We are also seeking volunteers to help with many of our events. Volunteers fill a variety of roles, primarily helping our students feel welcomed and appreciated. Information to volunteer with Saluki Startup events, including Convocation and Dawgs Nite Out is available here. Information to volunteer with Weeks of Welcome events, including Watermelon Fest, Saluki Stop Shops, Student Job Fair, and Welcome Fest, is available here.
