Nominations sought for 2016 SIU Distinguished Alumni Awards
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The SIU Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the 2016 SIU Distinguished Alumni Awards. The awards honor Southern Illinois University Carbondale alumni who have excelled in areas of professional accomplishment, humanitarian effort, cultural impact, and young alumni success.
Nominations will be considered through midnight, Aug. 7. Alumni selected for the award will be honored during a ceremony April 29, 2016, on the SIU Carbondale campus. Nominees must be able to attend the ceremony in person.
Nominee requirements for Distinguished Alumni Awards are:
Career Achievement: The recipient must be at least 41 years old at the time of presentation and recognized nationally or internationally for professional contributions.
Humanitarian Effort: The recipient must have a history of service to the Association, SIU Carbondale, community or nation, and also made significant contributions to society.
Cultural Impact: The recipient must have made contributions toward artistic excellence, innovation, or shown significant support for the arts.
Young Alumni Award: The recipient must be 40 years or younger and exhibit career success and commitment to the Association and/or university.
