Presentation to look at ‘consumer profiling’

A College of Mass Communication and Media Arts presentation this week will look at how marketers collect and use “big data” for consumer profiling and interactions.

Kavita Karan, a professor in the School of Journalism, and Fu Tao, a doctoral student in Mass Communication and Media Arts, will examine how three varied businesses collect consumer information. The presentation is from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, in the Communications Building Room 1214. The event is part of the School of Journalism’s 2015 Brown Bag Series.

Karan and Tao will look at the use of sophisticated analytics in profiling consumers, targeting products and services, providing customized incentives, engaging consumers, predicting behaviors and increasing interactions for measured revenues. The event is free and the public is invited. RSVP Sherida Evans at sherida@siu.edu.
