University Honors course deadline is March 10
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The University Honors program offers opportunities for faculty and staff as well as for students.
The UHON 351 class covers a number of specialized seminars that give faculty the opportunity to teach a specific topic to students in the tops of their classes. All disciplines are welcome. Sample courses from the current semester include: “Ghost Stories,” “Health Communication,” “Mystic Traditions,” “Mars: Our Next Home?,” “Tolkien’s World” and “Social History of Rock and Roll.”
The University Honors program pays faculty for teaching the courses and the faculty member’s academic unit receives all the FTE credit for the course. The deadline for course proposals for the spring 2016 semester is March 10.
The course proposal form and guidelines are on the program’s website. Honors Advisory Council representatives for each college provide additional advice, input and review of proposals. Faculty can also contact Lori Merrill-Fink, University Honors program director, 453-2824 or lomerfi@siu.edu.
