Media Advisory – ‘Business Boot Camp’

The Southern Illinois University School of Law will host a program this week that focuses on preparing students to effectively communicate and advise business clients.

Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to attend the second
“Business Boot Camp,” Thursday and Friday, Jan. 15-16, in the Hiram H. Lesar Law Building at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  The workshop runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The approximately 40 law students in the boot camp will each receive one credit hour for taking the course. The workshop will include lectures, case discussion, problems and simulation.

The discussion will be in room 206. A reception will follow and offer a good opportunity for interviews with students and faculty.

Career panelists are Mark Camero, vice president legal with Smiths Microwave Business Unit, Tampa, Fla., and law school alumni Martine Jackson, a partner with Rhode and Jackson P.C., Carbondale; Carson Maricle, an associate with Mathis, Marifan & Richter, Belleville, and Daniel Robinson, an associate with Bamberger, Foreman, Oswald and Hahn, Evansville, Ind.

Jennifer Camero, an assistant professor at the law school is event coordinator. Other faculty involved with the conference are Professor Patricia McCubbin, Associate Professor William Drennan and assistant professors John Erbes, Mark Koehler and George Mocsary.
