SIU receives Student Success Collaborative award
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale is one of three universities in the nation to receive the 2014 Student Success Collaborative Award from the Education Advisory Board (EAB), one of the largest providers of research, technology and consulting services to colleges and universities nationwide.
SIU Carbondale, Purdue University Calumet and California State University Long Beach are among the 120 colleges and universities in the nation that participate in EAB’s Student Success Collaborative, according to a news release announcing the award today, Nov. 10.
SIU Carbondale is receiving the Collaborative Citizenship Award in honor of the university’s commitment to sharing and making good use of best practices. The university’s academic advising participation in EAB’s Student Success Collaboration contributed to an 8.3 percentage point improvement in the retention of first-year, full-time students from fall 2013 to fall 2014. SIU Carbondale increased from 60.1 percent of first-time, full-time students retained in fall 2013 to 68.4 percent this fall.
The university will receive the award in January at the Student Success Collaborative summit in Washington, D.C.
