Aviation students receive scholarships
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Twelve students enrolled in Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s nationally recognized aviation programs received scholarships during the recent fall aviation banquet.
The 19 awards totaled $48,000. Students’ academic achievements served as the focal point at the annual banquet, Oct. 17, at the Student Center.
Steve Forte, the chief operating officer and director of operations with Virgin America Airlines, was the keynote speaker. The Aviation Management Society, a registered student organization, sponsors the banquet. Some of the scholarships honor SIU Carbondale graduates and all support students in the aviation flight, aviation management and aviation technologies programs.
