‘Be My Bra’ Cancer awareness contest is Oct. 29

The eighth annual "Be My Bra: Unite to Fight!" competition is at 5 p.m., Oct. 29, in the Student Health Center lobby.

The contest is to increase awareness about the importance of monthly breast self-exams as a critical component of early detection among college-aged women. “Be My Bra” is a collaborative event between Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) and the SIU Student Health Services Wellness & Health Promotion Services. Participants are encouraged to create an imaginatively decorated brassiere that symbolizes support and conveys the designers’ personal stance against breast cancer along with a short narrative explaining how the design is representative of the theme.

To enter, email Amy Behrens with contact name, phone number and email address. Registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 24. There is no entry fee. Entrants should arrive at 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 29. For more information, email Dawn Null or phone 536-4441.
