Symposium will look at community issues
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois University Carbondale School of Journalism, “Imagining Geographies,” and the Carbondale Human Relations Commission will host a symposium to discuss race, policing and justice issues in the midst of recent events in Ferguson, Mo.
The symposium is Oct. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carbondale Civic Center, 200 S. Illinois Ave., Carbondale. The public is invited.
Carbondale Acting Mayor Don Monty and SIU President Randy J. Dunn will offer greetings at the event.
This symposium will not only address Ferguson as a topical issue in the country, but also focus on related issues in Carbondale, as part of SIU’s mission to positively engage with our community.
