Conference will examine education reform efforts

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The 18th annual SIU Education Law and Labor Conference at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will offer principals, superintendents, school board members and education professionals an opportunity to meet for professional development and networking. 

The conference, “Educated in the Law:  The Impact of Reform Efforts on P-12 Education,” will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 24, in the Student Center Ballrooms. Participants will receive up-to-date information on issues including staff evaluations, negotiations and special education. A panel discussion will also look at student growth. 

State Sen. Andy Manar, D-Bunker Hill, is the keynote speaker. Breakout sessions will include discussions on the Performance Evaluation Reform Act and other educational and pension reform issues.
