Family Weekend will mean fun for all Salukis

CARBONDALE, Ill.  -- Saluki Family Weekend 2014 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will offer fun, excitement and special events that create lasting memories for students and their families. 

The weekend is Sept. 26-28 and features an assortment of activities for all ages.  

Festivities include the Chancellor’s Family Weekend Brunch, the Saluki Family Tailgate, the 78th annual Greek Sing, the fourth annual Saluki Kickoff 5K run, a craft sale, campus tours, and the Salukis’ football game against Western Illinois University. 

The University Museum is featuring several free exhibits, including “The Soul of Landscape and Other Explorations:  Paintings, Drawings and Metalwork” by SIU alumna Sarah Capps and “To the Moon and Back:  Richard Jurek’s Collection of Apollo Lunar Artifacts,” from Jurek, also an SIU alumnus. Students and families can also enjoy activities including free boat rentals at campus lake and discounted bowling and billiards. 

Saluki Family Weekend features an online trivia contest where those who answer correctly enter a drawing to receive “Saluki Family of the Weekend” honors.  Winners get a special prize package.
