SIU Family Carnival is Saturday
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The 11th Southern Illinois University Carbondale family carnival will provide an afternoon of fun for the family with games and prizes on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Designed with SIU students with children in mind, the event, “Saluki Pride, is from 3 to 5 p.m., in the Student Recreation Center’s west gymnasium. The carnival is free and open to all students, faculty and staff with children. The event also serves as a resource fair to connect students with each other and with campus and community resources.
Nearly 30 resource tables will be available with information about their services and children’s activities to help families show their Saluki Pride. SIU athletes will also be available for autographs and a meet and greet.
Participants will enjoy free snacks, games, prizes and fun. Among the prizes are a Student Recreation Center birthday party package, free student-dependent membership to the recreation center, Student Center bowling passes, youth swim lessons and a Saluki football family package.
Multiple campus units and departments are collaborating with community organizations for the event.
