CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has a new location in Marion to provide counseling services.

Each Wednesday, center staff will be available for consultations in the Marion Carnegie Library boardroom. The library is at 206 S. Market St., south of the Elks Club.  Consultations are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment only, beginning Aug. 6.  To schedule a meeting, call 618/536-2424.

The SBDC provides free advisement to entrepreneurs interested in starting or expanding a business.  The center has five full-time staff members with business ownership experience.  They work with about 500 clients each year, assisting with issues including finding financing, business planning, marketing, management and other needs.

“The new location will allow us to even better serve our Williamson County clients and increase the availability of services in Marion and the surrounding areas,” Robyn Laur Russell, director of business development and international trade and The International Trade Center, said.

The Illinois Small Business Development Center/International Trade Center is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.  To learn more about the university’s entrepreneurship and business development programs and the many services they offer, call 618/536-2424, email sbdc@siu.edu or visit the website at sbdc.siu.edu.
