IT employees will share knowledge, network
Between 50 and 60 information technology employees from SIU Carbondale will participate in an inaugural system-wide intercampus IT Day on Aug. 6. The event is also for IT employees with the School of Medicine in Springfield and host SIU Edwardsville.
The event will bring IT colleagues from the campuses together for a day of networking and knowledge sharing. David Crain, chief information officer at SIU Carbondale and Jennifer Vandever, associate vice chancellor for Information Technology at SIU Edwardsville, brought the concept to SIU after visiting a similar event at Illinois State University.
"The purpose of IT Day is for IT employees from the three campuses to network and share expertise. I think it will be beneficial for attendees to meet their counterparts at the other campuses, which will open communication for the future," Crain said.
The morning agenda will include presentations on Prezi and SharePoint applications. After lunch, SIU Carbondale will present Mobile Dawg and Technology Mentor initiatives, followed by a discussion led by SIU Edwardsville on classroom technology challenges, uses and achievements to close the event.
SIU Carbondale will host the IT Day next year and the School of Medicine will host the event in 2016.
