Young writers to present their work Saturday

CARBONDALE, Ill.  -- Participants in the Young Writers Workshop at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will be presenting excerpts of their creative works at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, in the John C. Guyon Auditorium at Morris Library.  

The public is welcome to attend the free program.

This is the 16th year for the summer workshop that welcomes students ages 17-18 to campus for a series of workshops and presentations by faculty members and graduate students in the university’s creative writing master’s degree program.  Throughout the week, the 26 participants have explored and developed their poetry and prose writing skills.  They will read selections from their new writings. 

The program will also include an awards ceremony for the workshop’s scholarship winners.
