McLafferty Annex research facility preview is Monday
Chancellor Rita Cheng invites the university community for a preview of the McLafferty Annex Collaborative Research Facility on Monday, March 31. The preview is from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in McLafferty Annex, 1785 University Press Drive.
Work is underway to retrofit the 65,000-square-foot annex into a state-of-the-art research facility. The interdisciplinary facility will feature a concept that allows for spaces to be adaptable based on the fluidity of changing research and the nature of the initial research programs – organismal research facility, fermentation sciences, and wet and dry core instrumentation.
In an effort to be environmental and fiscally responsible, the existing building is being renovated rather than demolished, and will utilize existing features including the energy-efficient geothermal heating and cooling system. The project also converts existing warehouse space into collaborative research space.
