Final MCMA dean candidate visits next week

The last of four candidates for the position of dean of the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts will meet with constituents next week.

Terry Likes, professor and chair of the Department of Communications at Tennessee State University, will be on campus Monday and Tuesday, March 24-25. Likes is one of four candidates; his forum was postponed earlier this month due to inclement weather that prompted an administrative closure on March 3.

Likes’ open forum is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in John C. Guyon Auditorium in Morris Library.  He will also participate in a question-and-answer session with MCMA faculty, staff and students from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in Communications Building, room 1032.

Likes will discuss “My Vision for Success Amidst the Challenging Environment for Higher Education.”

The forums will give university students, staff and faculty an opportunity to meet with Likes and ask questions about proposed approaches to the position and is done in conjunction with his interview for the position.

Three other candidates who have already interviewed and participated in open forums are:  Herman Howard, chair of the English, Foreign Languages and Mass Communication Department at Benedict College, Columbia, S.C.; Dafna Lemish, the current interim dean for the College of Mass Communications and Media Arts; and John B. “Jack” Zibluk, professor and chair for the Department of Mass Media at Southeast Missouri State University.

Likes’ curriculum vita is available here. All candidate evaluation forms need to be turned into Melba Ziegler at email or mail code 4305 by 3 p.m., Thursday, March 27.
