Student trustee petitions available
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Carbondale students interested in getting involved in government can pick up petitions to seek election for the student trustee position on the SIU Board of Trustees.
Petitions are available in the Student Government Office on the third floor of the Student Center. To be eligible, a student must be in good academic standing and submit a completed application with 200 or more valid signatures to that office no later than 4:30 pm. on March 14.
The student trustee position is open to all undergraduate, graduate and professional students at SIU Carbondale. The trustee serves as the student representative on the SIU system’s Board of Trustees. Additional details about the position and its responsibilities are included in the petition packet.
The announcement of candidates will be March 17. The election is April 9-10 through SIU Online.
The term of the newly elected trustee will run from June 2014 to May 2015.
