Women’s basketball closes out home schedule

The SIU women’s basketball team will close out the home schedule this week with a pair of promotions at the SIU Arena to benefit Alzheimer’s research and organ donation.

The Salukis face Missouri State at 6:05 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, in a “We Back Pat” game in support of Alzheimer’s research and awareness. The effort honors legendary former Tennessee women’s head coach Pat Summitt, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011. The Illinois chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will be available to answer questions and “Courage” wristbands will be available for sale; proceeds will go toward grants for Alzheimer’s research, education and support.

On Saturday, March 1, the Salukis will honor seniors Jordyn Courier and Sidney Goins prior to the 6:05 p.m. game against Wichita State.  As part of “Donate Life Organ Donation Awareness Day,” the team will wear green shooting shirts and fans can sign up to be organ donors at computer terminals in the lobby.
