Several employee wellness events on tap this week

There are several "WellSIU Chancellor Employee Heath Initiative" events available to faculty and staff this week.

At noon on Wednesday, Feb. 19, “Body Weight Basics” will teach how to get in a quick workout with little time or equipment.  The seminar will teach total-body training trips that can be done at home or the office. The seminar will be in the Student Center Illinois Room, and is presented by Recreational Sports and Services’ Saluki Fitness Department.

Employees are invited to join Chancellor Rita Cheng for a lunchtime walk at noon, Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Student Recreation Center south entrance.  Weather permitting the walk will be outside so proper shoes and clothing are necessary.  The walk will take place on the indoor track in case of inclement weather.

Thursday, Feb. 20 is also the first meeting of a new 17-week “Weight Watchers” program. The meeting is at 12:30 p.m. in the Student Center’s Thebes Lounge, which is located on the first floor. It is not too late to join the program and the first 50 registrants are eligible for 50 percent registration fee reimbursement.
