Information sought on missing SIU student
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Carbondale Police Department and SIU Department of Public Safety are seeking information regarding the disappearance of SIU student Pravin M. Varughese, who was last seen in the 600 block of West College Street at about 11 p.m. Feb. 12. Anyone with information is asked to call the Carbondale Police Department at 618/457-3200, the SIU Department of Public Safety at 618/453-3771, or the "Crimestoppers" line at 618-549-COPS (2677).
Varughese is a sophomore from Morton Grove, Ill., majoring in criminology and criminal justice. He has been enrolled at SIU since Fall 2012.
SIU Chancellor Rita Cheng said the university is assisting the Carbondale police with the search through the Department of Public Safety.
“We all hope that Pravin is safe and well,” she said. “I ask the university community to join me in keeping him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
