Reminder: Review inclement weather policy
Faculty and staff are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the university's policy and procedures regarding inclement weather.
The chancellor is responsible for the decision to close any or all parts of the university, cancel classes or issue a university weather advisory. Individual department heads are not granted the authority to close departments.
The decision to close the university or cancel classes due to weather or other emergency conditions will be made by the chancellor before 7 a.m. The decision will be communicated through area radio stations, television stations, mass emails and the campus Wireless Emergency Notification System (text messaging system). In addition, the university’s home page will include information regarding an administrative closure.
Unless the chancellor issues an administrative closure, employees who are scheduled for work and do not report for work due to weather conditions should request vacation time or absence without pay. Administrative and civil service employees work regardless of whether classes are in session.
Plant and Service Operations has developed a campus map to identify the parking lots and sidewalks that have priority for snow removal. The map may be accessed from the Plant and Service Operations website.
