Media Advisory -- SIU off-campus graduation
Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s distance education and off-campus program will hold its first Springfield workforce education and development graduation ceremony at Lincoln Land Community College on Friday, Dec. 6.
Reporters, photographers and camera crews are welcome to attend the ceremonies at Trutter Center, 2450 Foundation Drive, Springfield, Ill., which is on the community college campus. The pre-ceremony begins at 6 p.m. with commencement starting at 7 p.m.
James S. Allen, SIU Carbondale’s associate provost for academic programs, is the keynote speaker. Sixteen of the 20 students who are earning bachelor’s degrees in education with a workforce education and development specialization will participate in the ceremonies. The off-campus program in Springfield offers a bachelor’s degree in Education -- Training and Development. There are currently about 50 students in the university’s program at Lincoln Land Community College.

SIU Carbondale’s distance education and off-campus program also offers degrees in aviation management, elementary education, fire service management, health care management, industrial technology and technical resource management. Workforce education and development has 15 off-campus locations throughout the United States, including several military bases.
