Chamber Music Concert is Dec. 8
The Southern Illinois Chamber Music Society will present “Baroque Celebration,” a concert featuring French harpsichordist Maryse Carlin, along with SIU faculty Doug Worthen (flute), Eric Lenz (cello), Jacob Tews (viola), Philip Brown (bass) and SIU School of Music students Petra Bubanja, Edward Charity, Ben Bollero, Alex Chavez (violins), Jennifer Franklund (viola), and Richard Davis (cello). The performance will include works from the Baroque Era for flute and basso continuo, a world premiere of a new quartet for flute and strings by Chicago composer Lawrence Axelrod, and Bach's beloved Brandenburg Concerto No. 5. The concert will be held at the Carbondale Unitarian Fellowship, 105 N. Parrish Lane, Carbondale, at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $5 for students; music majors get in free with a music major ID card.
