‘Film Fridays at the Varsity’ showcase is Nov. 15
The last of the fall semester’s “Film Friday’s at the Varsity” program of experimental films is titled “Surveillance, Always and Forever.”
The program begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at the Varsity Center for the Arts, 418 S. Illinois Ave., and admission is free. Open discussion follows.
From Britain's Mass Observation Movement to surveillance of a Viennese street corner and a suburban neighborhood these works investigate how public space and surveillance share a long and ubiquitous history. The films are “Worst Case Scenario,” “In Order Not to be Here,” and “How Little We Know of our Neighbours.”
Cade Bursell, associate professor in Cinema and Photography, and Mickey Everett, a graduate assistant in the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts, curate the films.
The series is made possibly the Student Fine Arts Activity Fee.
