Former Justice Department official will present lecture

Gary G. Grindler, former acting deputy attorney general for the U.S. Department of Justice will present a lecture on Thursday, Oct. 24, in the SIU School of Law Courtroom. Grindler will present, “The Government’s Exercise of Discretion: DOJ Priorities and Policy Considerations.” The lecture is at 5 p.m. and is open to the public.  Grindler rejoined the Department of Justice in 2009 as deputy assistant attorney general in the criminal division. He also served as chief of staff to Attorney General Eric Holder during his tenure with the Justice Department.  He is a partner with at King & Spalding, LLP, and focuses on issues including white-collar criminal defense, internal corporate investigations, money laundering and search warrant compliance, financial fraud, congressional investigations, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
