“Ragtime” the Musical at McLeod Theater next week

The musical production “Ragtime,” presented jointly by the Department of Theater and the School of Music, comes to the McLeod Theater Oct. 24-27. Set during the days of early 20th Century immigration movement, “Ragtime” tells the story of three families from different social and ethnic backgrounds and their search for opportunity, independence, happiness, and the American dream. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday Oct. 24-26, and at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 27.  McLeod Theater is in the Communications Building. Tickets are $16 for adults and $6 for students and are available by phone at 618/453-6000, online at southernticketsonline.com or in person at the McLeod Theater and SIU Arena box offices. Tickets are also available at the door one hour before each performance. There is a free pre-show lecture in the Dean’s Conference Room in the Communications Building at 1 p.m. Sunday.
