Saluki football Homecoming game: 'Stache Out!
The first 5,000 fans at Saluki Football’s Oct. 19 Homecoming game against No. 1 North Dakota State will receive a maroon mustache as part of the first-ever ‘Stache Out at Saluki Stadium. Kickoff is 2 p.m. In each of the last two years, NDSU has beaten SIU by only six points and gone on to win the National Championship. This year the Salukis are calling on fans to help SIU knock off the top-ranked Bison. All fans attending the game are encouraged to sport a mustache in support of SIU’s mustachioed head coach, Dale Lennon. On SIU’s last two road trips to North Dakota State, Bison fans wore fake mustaches to steal the power of the mustache from Lennon. This year the Salukis will try to take it back. Lennon’s rivalry with North Dakota State dates back to his days as a player and coach at the University of North Dakota, where he won a Division II national title as the head coach in 2001. Order your tickets at the SIU Ticket Office or call 435-2000.
