Recital features baroque, romantic and classical guitar

Guitarist Jerry Willard presents a recital one might describe as time traveling. You’ll have to be in the Old Baptist Foundation Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18 to experience it. Willard’s instruments of choice are a five-course 17th century guitar, a Romantic guitar built by Louis Panormo in 1831, and a modern classical guitar. “Take these three instruments, the chapel acoustics of OBF plus the hands of a master like Willard and the audience is in for the closest thing possible to a sonic time machine,” said Issac Lausell, director of the guitar program for the School of Music. The Fine Arts Fee sponsors Willard’s visit. The concert is free to students, and $12 to general audience. Willard also offers a master class at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 19 at OBF.
