Employees to receive Insurance Marketplace notice

All faculty, staff and student employees will soon receive a mandatory notice at their home addresses discussing the Health Insurance Marketplace being created through the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, often referred to as "Obamacare." The act requires employers to provide all employees this notice.  However, health insurance offered by the university through the State Employee’s Group Insurance Program (SEGIP) through the Illinois Department of Central Management Services meets the affordability standard and satisfies your responsibility to carry health insurance coverage as set forth in the legislation.

Employees covered by SEGIP do not need to take any action as long as you and your dependents maintain health coverage.  If you and your family members are not covered under SEGIP, or you and your dependents do not maintain health insurance coverage, please read the notice carefully and contact the Office of Human Resources at 453-6668 with questions.
