New approach enhances Shryock, Arena services
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A new organizational structure will provide improved services to the campus community and the public at Shryock Auditorium and the SIU Arena on the SIU Carbondale campus.
Shryock will continue to be home for School of Music performances, lectures and other activities, including outside performances and such student-sponsored events as the annual Greek sing. The University also will continue to rent out Shryock. The arena will remain the venue for larger productions.
Two of the three members of the former Events Services staff are now part of the team that manages arena scheduling and operations. The third staff member has moved to the College of Liberal Arts with a focus on Shryock support.
The new structure also creates greater efficiency by consolidating two ticketing operations into one, and will lead to closer coordination with McLeod Theater, the theater department’s primary performance venue, and with other College of Liberal Arts events.
“We are bringing together talents from across the campus to provide better services through improved coordination,” Chancellor Rita Cheng said.
